Your Graduation make up look

Your day has finally arrived… and no I’m not talking about your wedding day. Graduation day. Along with your dress and shoes your make up is something else you need to consider before your big day. Whether you want to focus on a colourful lip, a soft dewy skin or a statement eye here are some tips to bring your whole graduation look together.

Look 1: Dewy skin

You’re going to get hot under that hat and gown so think practically. Ensure before you add anything to your face that you have used a primer first. You want your make up to stay on for a good few hours, so priming is key. Add your foundation, your concealer under your eyes, dust a setting powder over any oily parts of your face and finish off with a setting spray. Do all of this and you can be sure your face will stay exactly where you need it to. Don’t forget to add a pop of highlighter onto your cheekbones and a clear Lipgloss to finish this look. My favourite setting spray for long lasting make up is Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’. Top tip… go for the small bottle to fit in your handbag especially if you’re going from day to night! Prices from £8.

Look 2: A statement eye

Whichever colour you decide to go for never forget to prime your eyelids first, this will help hold the colour and ensure the pigment is strong. It also helps stop your eyelids from creasing, because let’s face it that is never a good look! If you’re not used to wearing eyeshadow my top tip would be to pick out three shades of the colour you wish to use, and blend blend blend. Once primed, use your medium shade over your lids, continue to add your darkest shade and blend the two together with a fresh clean brush. Continue these steps until your reach the desired level of colour you’re after. Your lightest shade should be used last just above your crease. Key to the perfect eye; take your time, use clean brushes and if you’re using an eyeliner make sure it’s a liquid especially on the top of your lids. My go to eyeshadow palette at the minute is from Obsession London. Prices start from just £6.

Look 3: The power pout

Pucker up girls, its time to kiss goodbye to that student discount and join the real world. And what better way than to add a bold lipstick. The key to rocking a killer pout, keep the rest of your make up subtle, especially if you decide to go for a nice red. Lip liner is never more important than it is when you are wearing a bold colour, it helps to keep your lipstick from bleeding and gives the illusion of a much fuller pout. My favourite? Relentlessly Red from Mac Cosmetics. Prices start from £12 for a mini Mac lipstick.

Remember, have a little fun with your make up! You will all be wearing the same outfit so don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd with a new killer make up look.

Enjoy your big day (and your last days of student discount on ASOS)

xx
